The business quickly expanded into the mobility, work body, and mainstream automotive industries, and by 1994 the company relocated to a 35,000 square foot manufacturing facility as demand continued to grow. Six years later, a 20,000 square foot building was built on an adjacent 3-acre parcel, and finally in 2008, a 15,000 square foot warehouse was added.
Today, Transfer Flow continues to invest in new technology and state-of- the art manufacturing equipment, while employing a dedicated and hardworking staff of more than 90 people from across Northern California.

Transfer Flow New 70-Gallon Fuel Tank and Toolbox Combo Has an Adjustable Storage Box For a Custom Fit
Transfer Flow has introduced a 70-gallon fuel tank and toolbox combo for full-size Ford diesel pickups. Designed to sit on the bedrails, this unit has an adjustable toolbox for a custom fit. Transfer Flow has engineered this fuel tank to provide maximum storage capacity with this size fuel tank: 5 cubic feet to 8 1Ž2 cubic feet, depending on truck bed depth.
The 70-gallon auxiliary tank operates with Transfer Flow’s TRAX 3™ operating system, which transfers fuel automatically to the OEM fuel tank at predetermined levels. It includes a dash-mounted LCD display that shows the fuel level percentage in each tank and the operational status of the fuel system. With the optional Refueling Tank Upgrade Kit, your 70 gallon auxiliary fuel tank can transform into a refueling tank as well!
The toolbox tank is made from 14-gauge aluminized steel for superior strength and rust resistance. An aluminum diamond plate lid comes standard. The fuel tank has internal baffles on all four sides to reduce fuel slosh, and is powder coated black for a durable finish. The fuel fillneck is located inside the locking storage compartment, keeping your fuel safe and secure!
Get maximum fuel capacity and extended driving range with Transfer Flow’s 100 gallon "Hauler" auxiliary fuel tank system
Transfer Flow’s 100 gallon "Hauler" in-bed auxiliary fuel tank system offers maximum fuel capacity at an affordable price. It’s available for 2000 – 2016 full-size Dodge Ram, Ford and GM diesel pickups with eight foot beds. The fuel tank is constructed of aluminum diamond plate and mill finish aluminum, and is fully baffled for added strength and to minimize fuel sloshing.
The 100-gallon auxiliary fuel tank operates with Transfer Flow’s Trax 3™ Fuel Monitoring System. TRAX 3™ is a computer controlled, self-diagnosing auxiliary fuel system that automatically transfers fuel from the auxiliary fuel tank to the pickup’s main tank at pre-determined fuel levels while the vehicle is in operation. It comes with a dash-mounted LCD display that shows the fuel level percentages of the stock and auxiliary tanks as well as the operational status of the fuel system.
The patent pending design has a recessed cover box where the fuel tank sending unit, rollover valve and fuel filter comes preassembled. Mounting hardware is included with the kit as well.

Now Light Duty Pickup Owners Have An In-Bed Refueling Tank To Fit Their Needs!
Transfer Flow has introduced a 40 gallon refueling tank for light duty domestic and imported pickups! This tank allows you to manually fuel your ATV, boat, lawn equipment, vehicle and more. This fuel system comes standard with a 12-volt refueling pump, wiring harness with cab-mounted power switch, 12-foot hose and fuel nozzle, mounting hardware, and locking fuel cap. For added convenience, the tank comes pre-assembled and the tank’s height allows it to fit under tonneau bed covers.
Tank tough and time tested based on more than 30 years of engineering expertise: the 40 gallon refueling tank is made from 12-gauge aluminized steel for superior strength and corrosion resistance, and is baffled on all four sides to reduce fuel slosh. The fuel tank is powder coated black with the option of a high-end elastomeric polymer spray-on coating for additional durability.
The 40 gallon refueling tank comes with a special permit from the Department of Transportation (DOT), making it legal for transport of gasoline, diesel, ethanol, methanol and aviation fuel. Transfer Flow is an Authorized Installer of ROUSH CleanTech® Propane Autogas Systems
Transfer Flow, Inc. is now an authorized installer and warranty service center covering northern California for ROUSH CleanTech propane autogas powered systems in full-size Ford pickups, cab chassis and Econoline vans. ROUSH CleanTech develops industry-leading innovative and reliable alternative fuel powered products that provide for lower vehicle emissions and a positive return on investment. Transfer Flow, Inc. (TFI) is an active member of the Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition, a Ford QVM and OEM manufacturer supplier, and holds over 192 CARB Executive Orders. Since January of 2013 Roush announced their new EO for the 6.2 liter engine and Transfer Flow has completed several installations confirming to the customer how LPG saves them money immediately.
Bill Gaines, founder of Transfer Flow, recently travelled to Oregon to service a propane Autogas powered vehicle. "Going to Oregon to service a vehicle may seem unusual, but we realized that to overcome the public’s reluctance to shift away from gasoline or diesel vehicles we have to go above and beyond the call. At the same time, we are convinced of the "right-now" benefits of propane autogas fuel for vehicles, especially in rural areas where natural gas and electric vehicles are either unavailable or just too impractical. Propane autogas can be purchased in almost every rural community at a significantly lower cost than gasoline or diesel, it keeps our energy dollars here in the US since it’s domestically produced, and the new ROUSH CleanTech vehicles run cleaner and require less routine maintenance than their gasoline or diesel counterparts", stated Gaines.
In 2011, Transfer Flow, in collaboration with Alliance for Workforce Development, Inc., The Northern Rural Training And Employment Consortium (NoRTEC), and the California Employment Development Department, developed and launched Northern California’s first Alternative Fuel Training Program. Over 200 attendees of the first CA Energy Commission-funded Alternative Fuels Vehicles and Technologies 3-day training class received innovative instruction from TFI and industry professionals, and hands-on training with various propane autogas systems.
Transfer Flow is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. "Transfer Flow’s old-fashioned commitment to doing whatever it takes to satisfy our customers is what has kept us operating since 1983", said Gaines. Transfer Flow currently employees 85 people at its aftermarket and OEM fuel system manufacturing facility in Chico, California.
"What a Gas" - News article featured in the Chico News & Review
For a business that manufactures and sells something as mundane as gas tanks, Transfer Flow seems like a pretty fun place to work. On the company’s Facebook page employees can be seen partaking in "Stomp Rocket Day," with pictures showing smiling workers—including CEO Lisa Johnson and her sister, CFO Laurie LaPant—stomping little toy rockets into the air in the parking lot of their 77,000-square-foot facility near the Chico Municipal Airport.
And, on the morning of the interview for this story, sitting in one corner of LaPant's bright and sunny office was a large stack of boxes of Girl Scout cookies waiting to be handed out to each employee later that day in honor of Valentine's Day. "We're a family company," said Johnson with a smile...
